Story Session 23-03-01

mli ceramics - from raw clay in the studio to west coast waves at dusk.

The very first photoshoot with mli ceramics. I took the ferry across an icy sea to Hönö to visit her studio - her grandfather's boathouse by the harbor.

My wish was to document a creative in her element in a way I had longed for. I knew immediately when I stepped into her world that our meeting would become so much more. This was the beginning of both a beautiful friendship and a collaboration that continues to grow.

"INSPIRED BY YOU".

Images that documents the whole feeling, the perspective and presence in the creatives work.

Emilie inspires not only through the ceramics she creates, but also through the way she sees the world. Her work is both powerful and quiet, bold and beautiful, thoughtful and poetic. She builds her pieces by hand using an ancient winding technique, layer by layer, with time and care.

As the light faded over the harbor, we took one of her large vases to the coast. We wanted to let the ceramics meet its rightful environment. A place that means a lot to her but also carries the entire feel and origin of mli ceramics as a brand.

Follow her journey on Instagram: @mliceramics and if you get the chance to visit her on Hönö or attend a workshop somewhere in the world, just take it!
